WELCOME! WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE

We are a group of believers who simply try to follow the Bible as a guide for all we do. Everything done in our worship service is something for which we have a Bible basis. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you wish. We will sing hymns together and we will observe the Lord's Supper or Communion together. We will also have an opportunity to give to the work of God in this area. This collection is for the members here, and if you are visiting you should not feel any pressure to give. Our lesson time will be divided into two groups. The young children will go to our classroom area in the basement where they will be taught the Bible at a level they can understand. The adults will stay in the auditorium for a lesson at an adult level. We do try to serve the community, and if you have some needs that we can help you with, mention it to one of the members. Thank you for worshipping with us.

FAMILY NEWS

PLANS.
We had a very productive meeting last Sunday. Mechanical decisions were made--the roof will be redone, the parking lot sealed and striped, the access ramp purchased, etc. Approval was given to evangelistic tools--the sign will be purchased and installed in front. The fair exhibit is under construction. Our children's classes for the summer have been established. It was a very encouraging afternoon of planning.

FMKs OUTSIDE PLEASE! An FMK is a fast moving kid. Last Sunday during the potluck we had a few near misses as seniors had near misses with FMKs. Parents, please have your kids do their gymnastics and Olympic training outside so no one gets hurt. We love the energy and enthusiasm of our young people, but I do not want to see one imbedded in my pot belly. Let us talk about equipping a playground and perhaps providing a place inside in the future for bad weather energy dispensation.

GET ONE AND USE IT! Be sure to get a list of those who need our prayers, cards and contacts from Karl and Julie. Please share addresses if you have them.

"SAVED IN CHILD BEARING"

". . .  she shall be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety" (1 Timothy 2:15, KJV)

In the process of studying for our lesson this morning, I came across this verse which I have read before but never gave much serious thought to. Paul has been talking to Timothy about roles in the church, and in this chapter he has talked about women not usurping the authority of a man but to be in silence (see verses 10-13). All of this discussion by Paul centers around the worship service and who is to provide leadership for the public assembly. What Paul tells us to radiate to the people around us in these verses is good works (verse 10) and a quiet and peaceable life (verse 2) with harmony and love.

After reviewing the history of mankind's relationship to God (verses 14) Paul makes a specific reference to the role of women. Women have a special role which is expressed in childbirth. It is not the physical act of having a baby that saves women, but "continuing in faith and love and holiness with self restraint" (verse 15). This has to do with motherhood. My wife Phyllis never gave birth to a child, but she was an incredible mother. Some women give birth but are horrible mothers, and the papers are full of women who are miserable mothers even killing their children.

Being a mother involves building faith in an innocent child. It means giving that child unconditional love. It means helping that child to become holy. Read the last half of verse 15! What an incredible opportunity women have to do something that will last far beyond their own existence on this earth. As we focus on mothers on this special day, we hold up and honor the women who have done this. It is never too late to recommit to using our role in life to bring faith and holiness to our children.

Not all women should be mothers. What 1 Timothy 2:15 tells us is a role women can choose to have. Dorcas in Acts 9:38, Lydia in Acts 16, and Priscilla in Acts 18 chose different roles. Choosing to be a mother is a wonderful opportunity, and one of incredible importance. It should never be taken lightly or by someone who has not weighed the cost of motherhood.
