WELCOME!
WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE

We are a group of believers who simply try to follow the Bible as a guide for all we do. Everything done in our worship service is something for which we have a Bible basis. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you wish. We will sing hymns together and we will observe the Lord's Supper or Communion together. We will also have an opportunity to give to the work of God in this area. This collection is for the members here, and if you are visiting you should not feel and pressure to give. Our lesson time will be divided into two groups. The young children will go to our classroom area in the basement where they will be taught the Bible at a level they can understand. The adults will stay in the auditorium for a lesson at an adult level. We do try to serve the community, and if you have some needs that we can help you with, mention it to one of the members. Thank you for worshipping with us.

FAMILY NEWS

FOOD PANTRY: There are some items that either we cannot get from Gleaners, or we do not get enough to meet the demand. Some of us have been buying stuff when it is on sale at the local grocery where we shop. You do need to look at the “use by” or “sell by” date if you do this, because groceries tend to unload stuff that is about to go out of date by putting it on sale. Right now we need peanut butter, canned tuna, and canned chicken. If you buy these, put them on the freezer in the pantry room. If you need a receipt for tax purposes, bring your receipt to Bill Gibson and he will write you one.

POTLUCK NEXT SUNDAY: Next Sunday is our usual potluck date. We also will have a follow-up sheet on decisions concerning the children's program and the fair exhibit. This will not be a meeting, but we will be asking you to sign off on decisions that have been made. See the article on the back cover.

GET A PRAYER SHEET: Remember to get and use the prayer sheet. See Julie or Karl who work hard to keep it up to date.

RESULTS

On April 7 we had a congregational meeting that in my opinion was one of the most productive meetings we have had. That happened because individual members had specific suggestions and things they wanted to see us do. We have a group of parents who has spent time drawing up a proposal which asks for the following goals to be addressed:

1) Awareness — Getting kids here for special activities and Bible study.

2) Interest — Getting kids interested in Bible class. Securing material for modern youth including the use of technology and researching Christian youth topics and activities.

3) Sustaining — Schedule activities to keep kids interested.

4) Christian friends — Build and sustain Christian friendships.

I have said to this group that when I was raising my kids, we as parents had no congregational support and no financial help. For young married couples just starting out that is an issue. This congregation has already made an investment in our young people with some major work on our facility, but I am proposing we also establish a fund which they can use to meet the goals above. There can be no question that the challenges of the twenty-first century to young people are huge. We will be seeking your approval of all of this next Sunday.

We have also had quite a bit of input on the fair exhibit, and a second sheet on fair plans has been distributed to each family. We need approval on the questions and suggestions on posters and banners. We have to order these items in the next month, so next Sunday we will ask for your endorsement of the fair project. Glynn Langston's support has been agreed to, and we will have that up for your final approval. The approval of a fund to hire a full time person also needs to be approved, as well as proposals for public meetings sponsored by us. Proposals now are to have a meeting with Glynn Langston and a congregational singing for the area.
