TO OUR VISITORS

The family of God here at Dowagiac Church of Christ wishes to extend to you a warm welcome.  If you have questions about our worship services and why we do what we do, we will be glad to give you a biblical answer.  The uniqueness of the Church of Christ is that we are trying to restore to the best of our ability those things that we see the first century Church doing.  We are also working hard at building the spirit, unity, and love that Jesus taught and prayed for.  We have no clergy, but are working together as equal co-workers trying to serve one another and the area in which we live.  Come study with us, grow with us, and serve with us as we strive to do God’s will in all things.

FAMILY NEWS

KIDS FALL FUN DAY.
Every fall we have a fun day for kids associated with the Church or with families who attend here.  This year it will be October 25 at 1:00 P.M.  It will be held at the Gibsons and will feature games, a hay ride, great food, and a good time for all ages of kids.  Plan to bring your kids, grandkids, neighborhood kids, and come yourself.  If It is raining it will be at the church building.

RECEPTION.  Chris and Laura Lang will be in town and a reception will be given at Bill and Maelene Salmon's house on November 1 from 2:00-5 :00 P.M.  Come and meet Chris's bride and get to see him again.

CONGRATULATIONS.  Julie and Karl Marcussen are grandparents of a baby girl born this past week.  See Julie for a play by play and pictures.

IMPORTANT PLANNING MEETING AND POTLUCK.  Our next potluck is November 2.  A special menu has been drawn up including Bill Gibson's famous vegetable beef soup, Lana Fox's potato soup, Larry Fox's venison chili, and Janice Love's taco soup.  Salads and bread are taken care of so, bring a dessert if you do not know what to bring, and come.  After the potluck we will have a planning meeting.  We have been talking in our Bible study about Paul's instructions about what to do with problems that come into our lives, and we have mentioned several times that as the work on the physical facility comes to completion we need to focus on what we are going to do to reach out to the community.  Come and share your ideas and hear what others are thinking along these lines.

AS YOU START EACH DAY REMEMBER

No one can ruin your day without your permission.

Others can stop you temporarily, but only you can do it permanently.

Success stops when you do.

Life is a journey ... not a destination.  Enjoy the trip!

The biggest lie on the planet--"When I get what I want, I will be happy."

Ultimately, takers lose and givers win.

Life's precious moments don't have value unless they are shared.

He or she who laughs ... lasts.

Look for opportunities ... not guarantees.

Life is what is coming, not what was.

Success is getting up one more time.

When things go wrong, don't go with them.

We often fear the thing we want the most.

If you don't start, it is certain that you won't arrive.

The best way to escape your challenge is to overcome it.

You will never have it "all together."

God loves you even when everything goes wrong.
