WELCOME!
WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE

We are a group of believers who simply try to follow the Bible as a guide for all we do. Everything done in our worship service is something for which we have a Bible basis. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you wish. We will sing hymns together and we will observe the Lord's Supper or Communion together. We will also have an opportunity to give to the work of God in this area. This collection is for the members here, and if you are visiting you should not feel and pressure to give. Our lesson time will be divided into two groups. The young children will go to our classroom area in the basement where they will be taught the Bible at a level they can understand. The adults will stay in the auditorium for a lesson at an adult level. We do try to serve the community, and if you have some needs that we can help you with, mention it to one of the members. Thank you for worshipping with us.

WE NEED HELP in getting the property ready for summer. There is loose wood to be picked up under the trees, flower beds need to be weeded and planted, the play area needs leaves raked up, and there is trimming needed around the fence and building. We may have to plan a work day, but it would be better if anyone who has some time can come over anytime and take care of some of these maintenance items. Richard is going in for knee replacement this week, so see Bill Gibson or John Clayton if you can help in anyway.

SAVE FAIR DATE! The Cass County Fair is August 3 – 8, and we have our regular slot reserved. We are planning to use the same set up we used last year with perhaps some small modifications. We will need workers for that time and everyone needs to be involved, so plan to be a part of our outreach.

BURIED WITH A FORK

A young woman was diagnosed with a terminal illness and given a short time to live. As she was getting her things in order, she asked a leader in her congregation to drop by to discuss her funeral. She mentioned songs she wanted to be sung, scriptures to be read, and a few other details. As he prepared to leave, she had one more request. When the church leader asked what that request was she replied “I want to be buried with a fork in my right hand.”

“Please pardon me, but did you really say you wish to be buried with a fork in your right hand?” the church leader asked. “Yes” she explained. “You see in all my years of attending church dinners and potlucks, I remember that when the dishes were being cleared, someone would always say ‘Don't forget to keep your fork!’ This was a reminder that something wonderful was coming, such as chocolate cake, banana pudding, deep dish apple pie. So when people see me in my casket with fork-in-hand, you can tell them that I expect something far better to come.”

They hugged and the church leader's eyes welled up with tears knowing this would probably be the last time he would see her alive. He also realized that she had a profound grasp of heaven. At her funeral people walked by the casket and wondered about the fork in her hand.

During the eulogy the church leader told the audience about the fork and about what it meant to the woman. The next time you grab a fork at a fellowship meal, hold on to it a few extra moments and remember that as a child of God, the best is yet to come. Those of us who have lost our mothers can be comforted knowing that they have nothing but good in their future with the Lord. (Story by Hugh Fulford)
