WELCOME!
WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE

We are a group of believers who simply try to follow the Bible as a guide for all we do. Everything done in our worship service is something for which we have a Bible basis. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you wish. We will sing hymns together and we will observe the Lord's Supper or Communion together. We will also have an opportunity to give to the work of God in this area. This collection is for the members here, and if you are visiting you should not feel and pressure to give. Our lesson time will be divided into two groups. The young children will go to our classroom area in the basement where they will be taught the Bible at a level they can understand. The adults will stay in the auditorium for a lesson at an adult level. We do try to serve the community, and if you have some needs that we can help you with, mention it to one of the members. Thank you for worshipping with us.

FAMILY NEWS

SHULTS-LEWIS has asked us to provide paper products for the children we help support in the Shults-Lewis Children's Home. That means we need to bring paper towels, toilet tissue, Kleenex, or napkins here to the building for them to pick up. They plan to pick it up the week of July 24. Bring what you can and leave it on the bench in the vestibule.

June 21: Remember the Tuesday Bible study at Claytons' at 7:00 p.m. That group's picnic has been moved to July 19.

July 3: Every year Bill and Patti Gibson have a fireworks display for their campers, and we are invited to enjoy that evening with them. In addition, Bill and Patty invite us to come early for hamburgers, hotdogs, etc. Come our Bible study at 6:00 p.m. and then join us at Gibsons' after services and bring a salad, chips, dessert, or leftover casserole from the potluck which is earlier that day. Bringing bug spray, and a lounge chair to use during the fireworks is a good idea, too.

FATHER’S DAY

Did you read the sign in front of the building as you came in today? It reminds us that producing a child is easy (the biological process of getting a woman pregnant) but “being a real father is hard.” The fact is that in our culture of selfishness and looking after number 1, very few men are willing to pay the price of being a real father.

One of the unique teachings of Jesus Christ was his insistence that little children are to be treasured. In Matthew 18:1 – 7 Christ tells us that welcoming a little child in the name of Jesus welcomes Jesus. Causing a little child to sin, according to Jesus, is such a catastrophe that a person would be better off to be drowned than to cause the loss of a child. In Matthew 19:14 Jesus says “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Men who hinder children's spiritual development are in serious trouble with God. Not giving our children our time is a sin. When our recreation comes before our children's spiritual training, when our work ethic does not speak to children about how to build a successful life, when children do not see service to God and man exemplified in the lives of fathers and grandfathers we hinder children coming to Jesus.

We have men in this congregation who have done and are doing the hard work of being a real father or grandfather. We honor those men today, because even in our materialistic culture the world sees the importance of raising a child “in the nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). As men become selfish and neglect their sons and daughters our nation is threatened. God bless the REAL men — the fathers and grandfathers of today.
