WELCOME!
WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE

We are a group of believers who simply try to follow the Bible as a guide for all we do. Everything done in our worship service is something for which we have a Bible basis. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you wish. We will sing hymns together and we will observe the Lord's Supper or Communion together. We will also have an opportunity to give to the work of God in this area. This collection is for the members here, and if you are visiting you should not feel and pressure to give. Our lesson time will be divided into two groups. The young children will go to our classroom area in the basement where they will be taught the Bible at a level they can understand. The adults will stay in the auditorium for a lesson at an adult level. We do try to serve the community, and if you have some needs that we can help you with, mention it to one of the members. Thank you for worshipping with us.

FAMILY NEWS

SHULTS-LEWIS: Remember to bring paper goods to the building for pick up. They plan to pick it up the week of July 24. Bring what you can and leave it on the bench in the vestibule.

FIREWORKS — JULY 3: Every year Bill and Patti Gibson have a fireworks display for their campers, and we are invited to enjoy that evening with them. In addition, Bill and Patty invite us to come early for hamburgers, hotdogs, etc. Come to Bible study at 6:00 and then join us at Gibsons after services and bring a salad, chips, dessert, or left over casserole from the potluck which is earlier that day. Bringing bug spray, and a lounge chair to use during the fireworks is a good idea, too.

CONGREGATIONAL PICNIC — JULY 10: We are having a congregational picnic at Madeline Bertrand County Park, south of Niles at 1:00, at the main pavilion, the Bertrand Lodge. This will be followed by a singing at 3:00 and a devotional service at 4:00. We are inviting surrounding congregations in the area to join us. This is a potluck, so plan accordingly.

BIGOTRY FROM THE PULPIT

There are a lot of things that have happened in connection with the shooting in Orlando, but probably nothing has been more disgusting than the Sacramento preacher who said his only regret was that more people were not killed. The logic of his statement is not hard to understand. We share his belief that Islam is not a valid path to God. We have studied the Koran and have been repulsed by the treatment of women and the validation of violence in Muhammad's teaching. We also believe that God's plan for sexuality is one man and one woman for life.

So how do we react when a man steeped in radical Islamic teaching murders 49 or more people, most of whom were gay? The Sacramento preacher's mindset is that both of these belief systems are his enemies, and that when they fight and kill each other it is time for rejoicing. How would Jesus react to this situation? Listen to Jesus: “You have heard that it was said, love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:43). Jesus prayed for the forgiveness of those who were nailing him to the cross (Luke 23:34). Christians should be grieved at what Satan has accomplished. Our hearts go out to the families who have lost sons and daughters. We long to sit down with our Islamic friends and talk about peace and how we can learn from each other and grow in our love for God. We fear for the gay community who we believe are immersed in a destructive lifestyle, but we love them and want to help them find their way to live free of fear and harm. Our desire is to serve, not to condemn, and we regret that some confuse hating the effect of sin with hating those who disagree with us.
