WELCOME!
WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE

We are a group of believers who simply try to follow the Bible as a guide for all we do. Everything done in our worship service is something for which we have a Bible basis. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you wish. We will sing hymns together and we will observe the Lord's Supper or Communion together. We will also have an opportunity to give to the work of God in this area. This collection is for the members here, and if you are visiting you should not feel and pressure to give. Our lesson time will be divided into two groups. The young children will go to our classroom area in the basement where they will be taught the Bible at a level they can understand. The adults will stay in the auditorium for a lesson at an adult level. We do try to serve the community, and if you have some needs that we can help you with, mention it to one of the members. Thank you for worshipping with us.

FAMILY NEWS

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING. Enclosed with this bulletin is a worksheet for the congregational meeting next Sunday. It has been a long time since we have had a congregational meeting to discuss the work here, find out what we have done, what our finances are, and what we have planned for 2017. Please read the explanation of the worksheet below at The Back Page for more information on this meeting. Plan now to stay and bring your ideas. We need everyone here, because we can be sure that Satan will try to stop us. Discouraging people from getting involved is Satan's most effective technique. Do not let that happen.

POTLUCK NEXT SUNDAY. Before our congregational meeting we will have a potluck dinner. Please plan to make Sunday a full day of service to God, beginning with fellowshipping during the potluck.

TIMBERS NEXT SUNDAY. Next Sunday is also our day to conduct the worship service at Timbers Care Center. We start at 2:30 with singing, a short devotional message, prayers, and a communion service. We need all the singers we can get, and especially people to greet and spend a few minutes with the residents that come.

EXPLANATION OF THE WORKSHEET

The idea of the worksheet is to save time during the meeting next Sunday. Bill Gibson will make a financial report to us and we will answer questions about the nine items at the top of the sheet. We have a bunch of folks here who use Facebook in one way or another, and having a congregational Facebook page would improve communication and allow visitors to learn more about us and what we stand for. Mandy Wallace has experience in this area and has indicated a willingness to develop a Facebook page.

Hiring a preaching school student to work with us in the summer is an option we can consider. Ohio Valley University would work with us on this if we are interested. The student would make visits, conduct personal Bible studies and do our preaching. He would then go back to school in the fall.

We have some significant needs in our facility. Our chairs in the fellowship area have a high mortality rate, and the general consensus is to replace them with solid chairs and save the folding chairs for special events. We talked about the mower problems last week, and I do not see as we have many options. I suggest turning this over to men who know machines and get a reliable mower to keep our property groomed and free of debris. The registers in the fellowship room are missing covers, and chairs have gotten broken by falling into them. This is not an expensive item, but it needs to be done.

We use a lot of ice at potlucks, special events at the building, and some medical applications. Our ice maker in the refrigerator is not working and is not reliable. We can repair it or purchase an under-the-counter ice maker. This is expensive, but would be well used. I got two prices, but apparently free standing counter top ice makers are not available any more. Our floors are in need of attention, especially in the entry ways and the fellowship room. We can get it professionally cleaned, clean it ourselves, or replace the entry ways with some other kind of flooring — rubber mats, non-slip tile, or some other entry way flooring.
