WELCOME!
WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE

We are a group of believers who simply try to follow the Bible as a guide for all we do. Everything done in our worship service is something for which we have a Bible basis. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you wish. We will sing hymns together and we will observe the Lord's Supper or Communion together. We will also have an opportunity to give to the work of God in this area. This collection is for the members here, and if you are visiting you should not feel and pressure to give. Our lesson time will be divided into two groups. The young children will go to our classroom area in the basement where they will be taught the Bible at a level they can understand. The adults will stay in the auditorium for a lesson at an adult level. We do try to serve the community, and if you have some needs that we can help you with, mention it to one of the members. Thank you for worshipping with us.

FAMILY NEWS

POTLUCK NEXT SUNDAY: Next Sunday will be the first Sunday of the month, so we will be having our monthly potluck. Plan to stay and bring a dish if you can. We always have lots of food, so plan to stay and eat with us and enjoy fellowship together. After we clean up, we will go to Timbers Nursing Home and conduct a worship service. We need workers for what we do at Timbers. When we have several people singing and people passing out books and taking people to their rooms, it is an encouragement to the staff and the patients. It usually lasts about 30 minutes starting at 2:30. Please help

SENIOR BRUNCH TUESDAY: We are taking the lead in getting senior Christians who live in the Michiana area together. We have a newsletter, and we meet twice a month. The first Tuesday we meet at Golden Corral in Mishawaka for brunch at 11:00. The third Tuesday we meet at the Claytons' house at 7:00 for a devotional and Bible study. It is light now when we quit around 8:00, so if darkness is an issue, it is over. We can also help you find transportaron if that is a problem. We urge our seniors to be a part of this. It is good for you and good for the Lord's church.

John Clayton

INTRODUCTION
A. What are the hardest words for you to say?
1. ____________________
2. ____________________
3. ____________________
B. For all of us, “I have sinned” is near the top. Why?
I. HARD BECAUSE IT ADMITS GUILT.
A. No one likes to admit guilt.
B. So hard, we blame others.
1. Genesis 3:12 — Adam
2. Genesis 3:13 — Eve
C. We want to distance ourselves from the situation.
Genesis 4:9 — Cain
D. To admit guilt makes us as bad as everyone else.
1. 1 Corinthians 5:1 – 2 — laughing about sin
2. Jokeing about sin essentially admits guilt
E. We want to believe we are innocent — Matthew 27:24
II. HARD BECAUSE ACKNOWLEDGING SIN IS TO FACE UP TO JUSTICE.
A. Sin NEVER goes unpunished — Galatians 6:7 – 8.
B. Genesis 4:13 – 15 — Cain (God's mercy intervenes)
1. Proverbs 28:13
2. 1 John 1:8 – 10
III. HARD BECAUSE ADMITTING SIN MEANS ADMITTING NEED.
A. Revelation 3:15 – 17 — Describes us today.
B. 2 Samuel 12:12 – 13
C. Luke 18:9 – 14 — Religious nut and the common man
D. Acts 2:37 — What can “prick your heart?”
1. Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus
2. Dying to sin means admitting sin — Romans 6:6.
E. Say “I have sinned”. Why is it hard?

TOO BUSY TO FUSS

Well, here we go — summer is starting and things are getting crazy. Yard work, garden work, and end of school stuff is in full swing. The Gibson clan has been bringing in family from all over to ready their campground for the summer with the starting date being this weekend. Our kids are gearing up for camp. The LaPorte church is having their “Muddy Waters Fishing Outreach” with BassPro in two weeks. If you have not seen the flyer, do so. We are gearing up for our fair booth presentation about Bible characters. We need your help and ideas.

We had a great road clean up, and I am told it happened in record time — our thanks to everyone who participated. Our property cleanup and maintenance is an ongoing work. Our thanks to Shane Wallace who has volunteered to mow our lawn. We still need more help inside and out. If you cannot see what needs to be done, just ask.

Since the last time I wrote in this column I have driven 4,700 miles to Mesquite, Texas, and Anthem, Arizona, with major outreaches in both places. Cindy and I will be going to Colombia, South America, at the end of June with Jimmy Pinzon's church group to work with the local churches. The Catholic bishop of that area is having a debate with Richard Dawkins on the existence of God, and I will be doing public and church presentations with Jimmy doing the translating. We will be home two weeks and then we will be going to teach in the Tahoe Family Encampment in California.

When I was in Arizona I was asked to speak at a preachers' breakfast. The preachers of the area were talking about issues facing the church today, and some debate sprang up as people disagreed as to what could and should be done. When I spoke and they asked me what position we took on those issues I told them we were too busy to fuss about issues. There was an awkward silence, and then one of the older preachers stood up and said, “I've been preaching for 45 years, and that is the best answer I've ever heard on that subject!” Are we not blessed, here to have so much to do!
