WELCOME!
WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE

We are a group of believers who simply try to follow the Bible as a guide for all we do. Everything done in our worship service is something for which we have a Bible basis. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you wish. We will sing hymns together and we will observe the Lord's Supper or Communion together. We will also have an opportunity to give to the work of God in this area. This collection is for the members here, and if you are visiting you should not feel and pressure to give. Our lesson time will be divided into two groups. The young children will go to our classroom area in the basement where they will be taught the Bible at a level they can understand. The adults will stay in the auditorium for a lesson at an adult level. We do try to serve the community, and if you have some needs that we can help you with, mention it to one of the members. Thank you for worshipping with us.

FAMILY NEWS

SENIORS: Remember the devotional at Claytons' this coming Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. Bring your Bible and enjoy an evening of study and fellowship. See John for directions. Anyone is welcome.

OCTOBER 28 — RAIN DATE KIDS' DAY AT GIBSONS'. Every year Patty and Bill Gibson host a kids' day at their place — games, a hayride, food, and lots of fun for everyone. Let Bill and Patty know if you can come, how many will be in your group, and what you can bring and remember to bring outdoor chairs.

PLEASE USE THE LITERATURE. We have a great many publications available to be used by you. Gospel Minutes is in the tract rack in the lobby. It has interesting and sometimes funny questions that are church related. Christian Chronicle is a brotherhood monthly news magazine covering church activity all over the world. There are copies of the Does God Exist? quarterly, which is sponsored by this congregation and is a four-color magazine you can give to visitors and guests. In the back of the auditorium there are old copies of these magazines. Please use them to reach out to others and to grow yourself!

GOOD THINGS HAPPENING IN THE CHURCH

For the last two weeks Cynthia and I have been on the road working with and enjoying three separate efforts made by members of the church. We left here in October 12 and went to Mountain View, Arkansas, where we did one of our lectureship programs in a County Fair Complex. They had done a good job of advertising and we had good attendance. They are just slightly larger than we are, but they are working hard. I also did five sessions in the county jail that went well.

Our next stop was in Branson, Missouri, where Harding University was conducting a program for seniors called “Abundant Living.” This program has been going on for a long time and brings people from all over the country to learn about ways that seniors can get involved in the Lord's work locally and all over the world. They had some great speakers, and we heard about some great things that Christians are doing in disaster relief, care of young people who are troubled, and a variety of other efforts being carried on by older Christians. With some 240 people in attendance, we had some great opportunities to meet and talk with strong Christians. I made one presentation and we had a booth with Does God Exist? materials, that allowed us to meet a great many people. I would hope we could take a bus to next year's workshop. Not only was the program great, but the facilities and opportunities to enjoy Branson were available.

The timing of the workshop coincided with “Church of Christ Weekend” at Silver Dollar City, an amusement park in Branson. The Hollister congregation just south of Branson arranged for a worship service at an amphitheater in the park, and several singing groups made up of members of the church gave 30 minute programs within the park. Numerous visitors attended these programs. Being with several hundred people in the hot Missouri sun to worship God in song and hear a good lesson from God’s word was a rich experience.

The church is doing well, and we need to realize that we are just a small part of the good things being done nationally and globally.
