WELCOME!
WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE

We are a group of believers who simply try to follow the Bible as a guide for all we do. Everything done in our worship service is something for which we have a Bible basis. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you wish. We will sing hymns together and we will observe the Lord's Supper or Communion together. We will also have an opportunity to give to the work of God in this area. This collection is for the members here, and if you are visiting you should not feel and pressure to give. Our lesson time will be divided into two groups. The young children will go to our classroom area in the basement where they will be taught the Bible at a level they can understand. The adults will stay in the auditorium for a lesson at an adult level. We do try to serve the community, and if you have some needs that we can help you with, mention it to one of the members. Thank you for worshipping with us.

FAMILY NEWS

HIGHWAY CLEANUP TIME CHANGED! Next Saturday, July 14, is our day to clean up the highway in front of our building. We will meet at 9:00 in the morning to avoid the heat. The more people show up, the faster it goes! Please give your morning to help us with this service to our community!

UPDATE ON FAIR BOOTH. We have had some discussion during our Bible class times about what to do at the Cass County Fair this year. Our booth has to be up and running July 30, so we have to get busy on it. The consensus was that our question boards work better than our Bible character pictures of last year, and Richard Hoyt has a series of Bible questions he has been working on that would fit the boards that we already have prepared. One idea was that we have a “Bible Animals” question board for children. With three boards already wired, that is possible. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Bill Gibson or Richard Hoyt.

THANKS to everyone who came to Timbers last Sunday. We continue to get positive feedback from the Fun Fair and from the folks at Timbers! Thanks for your help.

A PERSONAL MINISTRY STORY

Several members of our congregation received an envelope this past week that had a $2.00 bill in it and a message from a sister in Christ in Carlsbad, New Mexico, named Ann Halford. This is quite a story and is a demonstration of what one person can do acting unselfishly on her own.

My family met Ann Halford while on lectureships in Texas and New Mexico. My handicapped son Tim was with us, and he and Ann hit it off really well. She started sending him cards and gifts such as stuffed animals and spicy chips. She has encouraged Tim over the years, and his room is full of stuffed animals, almost all of which came from Ann.

In 2007 Ann started sending $2.00 bills to young people to encourage them. On the bill she would write “You are special” on the face of the bill and have a smiley face on the right end, all put on with a black marker. She would also have notes written on the bill. She did this when she stumbled on a story of a child who either accomplished something great or struggled through hardship. Tim is just one of a number of young folks whom she has encouraged and who continue to have contact with her.

Ann has a heart for mission works and for areas like ours where the church is small, but working hard to make an impact on the community. I have been sending her copies of our bulletin and special items like the program for our Fun Fair. She picked up on some of the workers that I mentioned concerning the fair and sent them a $2.00 bill with a note. I have placed a newspaper clipping from the Carlsbad newspaper which includes a picture of Ann.

This clipping is from May 31, 2014 (Carlsbad, New Mexico, Current Argus) and Ann was 85 at the time, and she continues this ministry to this day. You never get too old to have an idea and to be able to use your idea to bless others and bring glory to God. Ann has three scrapbooks with cards and photos of children and teenagers who have written her after receiving a $2.00 bill. Thank God for brothers and sisters like Ann Halford!
