WELCOME!
WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE

We are a group of believers who simply try to follow the Bible as a guide for all we do. Everything done in our worship service is something for which we have a Bible basis. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you wish. We will sing hymns together and we will observe the Lord's Supper or Communion together. We will also have an opportunity to give to the work of God in this area. This collection is for the members here, and if you are visiting you should not feel and pressure to give. Our lesson time will be divided into two groups. The young children will go to our classroom area in the basement where they will be taught the Bible at a level they can understand. The adults will stay in the auditorium for a lesson at an adult level. We do try to serve the community, and if you have some needs that we can help you with, mention it to one of the members. Thank you for worshipping with us.

FAMILY NEWS

POTLUCK TODAY: What better way to start a New Year than to have a wonderful meal with brothers and sisters in Christ who know you, love you, and want to spend time with you and catch up on what happened over the Christmas holiday. We have plenty of food, so if you did not bring anything do not let that stop you. Plan to stay.

TIMBERS THIS AFTERNOON: At 2:30 P.M. we will have our monthly devotional at Timbers Nursing Home. We have a song service with short comments and prayers usually lasting 30 minutes. We then have a communion service for those who wish to participate, and we spend some time talking with clients and nurses and getting them back to their rooms. We need your presence to encourage people who in some cases feel forgotten and/or forsaken. Having your voice in the singing helps a great deal. Take 30 minutes to bring the love of Christ to a group that will welcome you.

SENIOR BRUNCH THIS TUESDAY: The brunch was moved from the first to the eighth. It is at Golden Corral in Mishawaka at 11:00 A.M. and everyone is welcome.

INTRODUCTION — 2019 LOOKING BRIGHT FOR US
A. A new start for this congregation
1. Physical facility renewal
2. Changes in classes
3. Fun Fair — June 15
B. Biblical Example — Israel and the “Promised Land” — Joshua 3:1 — A new experience,
....new land
I. ISRAEL PREPARED FOR THE JOURNEY
A. Our past is part of our preparation
1. Israel spent 40 years in the wilderness
2. Unbelievers had died — people who hold back God's work do die. God is the leader.
B. Having a place to live is not our sole destiny.
1. Shittim was not home even though attractive.
2. We cannot be content with “keeping house.”
C. Before starting, Israel lodged (camped).
1. Word involves considering the past.
2. Learning from our mistakes
II. ISRAEL RESOLVED TO FOLLOW GOD'S GUIDANCE
A. JOSHUA 3:2-4 — Role of the Ark — Exodus 25-26
1. A place to meet God. A holy thing led Israel — Not a politician
2. 1000 yards — No one's view is blocked.
B. We are called to follow God's guidance — John 21:23 versus Luke 22:54
III. ISRAEL WAS CALLED TO CONSECRATE THEMSELVES — Joshua 3:5 — Consecrate means
....to set apart.
A. Exodus 29:37 — Touching the Ark — made holy
B. Touching the blood of Christ makes us holy.
1. Revelation 1:5,
2. Hebrews 9:22-23.
3. 1 John 1:7
IV. ISRAEL — WALKING BY FAITH AND GOD RESPONDED
A. Joshua 3:6-17 — Note the magnitude of the miracle
B. Are we consecrated? Not are we better.
1.When whatever we do to serve works, it is God!
2. Applies individually and as a congregation.
V. ARE YOU READY to walk where you have never walked?

A LESSON IN PRIORITIES

HUSBAND: My wife is missing! She went shopping and hasn't come home!
OFFICER: Age?
HUSBAND: I'm not sure. Somewhere between 50 and 60. We don't do birthdays.
OFFICER: Height?
HUSBAND: I'm not sure. A little over 5 feet tall.
OFFICER: Weight?
HUSBAND: I don't know — not slim, not really fat.
OFFICER: Color of eyes?
HUSBAND: Sort of brown I think. I never really noticed.
OFFICER: Color of hair?
HUSBAND: Changes a couple of times a year — maybe dark brown now. I can't remember.
OFFICER: What was she wearing?
HUSBAND: Could have been pants, or maybe a skirt, or shorts. I don't know exactly.
OFFICER: What kind of car did she go in?
HUSBAND: She went in my truck!
OFFICER: What kind of truck was it?
HUSBAND: A 2016, manufactured September 16th, pearl white Ram Limited 4x4 with 6.41 Hemi V8 engine ordered with the Ram Box bar and fridge option, LED lighting, back up and front camera, Moose hide leather heated and cooled seats, climate controlled air conditioning. It has a custom matching white cover for the bed. Weather Tech floor mats. Trailing package with gold hitch, sunroof, DVD with full GPS navigation, satellite radio, Cobra 75 XX ST 40 channel CB radio, six cup holders, 3 USB port and 4 power outlets. I added special alloy wheels and off-road Toyo tires. It has custom retracting running boards and under-glow wheel well lighting. At this point the husband started choking up.
OFFICER: Take it easy sir, We’ll find your truck!

GENTLEMEN: IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE MESSAGE OF THIS STORY, ASK YOUR WIFE TO EXPLAIN IT TO YOU! THEN READ EPHESIANS 5:25-33.
