FAMILY NEWSTIMBERS NEXT SUNDAY: Plan your day so that you can be with us at the worship service at Timbers. We have some people who need help getting to the meeting place, so be there at 1:45 P.M. to help do that. We also need singers. The devotional starts at 2:00 and finishes around 2:30, and there is time afterwards to visit with some of the residents. We have a few folks who have no family and who never get anyone visiting. Read Matthew 25:34-46 and realize this is a built-in opportunity to do what Jesus calls us to do. SENIORS: Our brunch date is going on at Golden Corral and will meet this week on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. The staff wears masks and gloves are provided. This is just an opportunity to be with Christian seniors from all over the area. The group has been small due to COVID, but we are meeting and you are welcome. TONIGHT at 6 :00 P.M. we will continue our series on faith. The subject tonight is the first of a series on evolution. There is a lot of bad information on this subject on both the atheist side and on the religious side. This is a highly visual presentation and you will learn by being a part of it. Plan to be with us. TODAY'S LESSON

THE BACK PAGEGROWING YOUR FAITHIn our lesson today we saw a number of cases where people were asking for more faith. Jesus never treats faith as a commodity. You do not pour faith into someone like water in a glass. Faith is a part of our thinking and our education. Faith is a quantity that needs to be fed and nurtured. What do you do to nurture and grow your faith, and what does Satan use to defeat your faith? In Luke 4 we read of Satan's attempt to destroy the faith of Jesus. The things that did not work on Jesus are things that Satan uses on each of us. The first thing Satan did was to tempt Christ with physical cravings. Jesus had not eaten for 40 days and he was hungry. Satan knows when we have physical cravings and he works to offer destructive things to meet those cravings — be it food, drink, or sex or emotional needs. The second thing Satan offered Christ is political power. In our day we are being asked to embrace political positions that fly in the face of God's commands. Right now we see recreational drugs, prostitution, abortion, euthanasia, and immoral lifestyles asking for our support and endorsement. The third thing Satan offered is to tempt God by expecting God to interfere in the normal processes of human activity. Satan has sold a big lie to mankind in the past two years about disease and the consequences of the choice of gender change. Jesus responded to Satan's challenge to violate the law of gravity and to expect God to step in and prevent gravity from working. He did this by quoting Deuteronomy 6:16. We need to profit from the biblical account of Satan's activity and follow the lead of Jesus. We also need to engage in those things that will build our faith. Our Sunday night class is designed to do that. Our daily articles on the Web (see doesgodexist.today). Read Romans 1:19-20, Proverbs 8, Psalm 19:1 and Psalm 139:14-15 and grow! We have the tools to build faith. Use them! Our sign by the street!
